Job summary

Guthrie in Sayre, PA seeks a Respiratory Therapy Assistant to perform blood gas analyses and assist with equipment care under supervision. You will deliver medical gas tanks, manage tank changes, and inventory Respiratory Therapy supplies to support the ICU team.

Responsibilities include cleaning and restocking respiratory equipment, performing basic quality control, and ensuring accurate documentation. A high school diploma with biology/chemistry/algebra coursework and allied health exposure

Qualifications

• High school graduate with the ability to work well with patients and accurately with numbers.
• One semester of college biology, chemistry, and advanced algebra preferred
• One year of allied health experience preferred

Responsibilities

• Performs blood gas analysis under supervision of a Registered Respiratory Therapist.
• Recognizes equipment functionality and troubleshoots as needed.
• Performs blood gas quality control procedures and documents results.
• Delivers medical gas tanks to hospital units.
• Switches tank banks and changes regulators; handles large cylinders as needed.
• Inventories disposable equipment in Respiratory Therapy and ICU storerooms.
• Disassembles, cleans and reassembles Respiratory Therapy equipment.
• Exchanges disposable setups as needed.
• Prepares ventilators for use and restocks respiratory stock areas.
• Hands hygiene audits and charges for Oxygen with finance/regulatory.

Essential Functions: Performs functions under supervision of a Registered Respiratory Therapist 1. Performs blood gas analysis. 2. Effectively recognizes equipment functionality status and appropriately troubleshoots equipment. 3. Performs blood gas quality control procedures and documents results appropriately. 4. Delivers medical gas tanks to hospital units. 5. Switches and changes tank banks in tank room, as well as large cylinders in other areas of hospital as needed. 6. Inventories disposable equipment in Respiratory Therapy Department and ICU storeroom and replaces as needed. 7. Disassembles, cleans and reassembles Respiratory Therapy equipment. 8. Exchange disposable set ups as needed. 9. O2 tanks and regulators (transporting, storage, changing regulators. 10. Home O2 tank delivery 11. Inventory of Respiratory Therapy Equipment 12.
