Ntmconline in Corbin, KY is seeking a student in a respiratory care program to join our clinical team under supervision of the Lead Respiratory Therapist. You will set up and operate respiratory equipment and assist with patient care and education as prescribed by physicians.

Qualifications

  • Must complete certification within 90 days and Registry within 180 days.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct trach care per hospital policy and perform rounds to check equipment.
  • Assist in preparing patients for physical therapy, ambulation, and transport.
  • Properly store oxygen tanks per OSHA and hospital guidelines.

Job description

Under the supervision of the Lead Respiratory Therapist and upon request of the physician, sets up and operates various types of respiratory care equipment to be utilized in the diagnosis and treatment of respiratory disease and/or illness, Explain the purpose and procedure of treatments, tests and equipment to the patient and properly document all education given to patient(s) and their caregivers on the patient education form in the patient's chart. Conduct physician prescribed treatments; including but not limited to, Handheld Nebulizer Therapy and various nasal oxygen devices in order to administer prescribed medicinal vapors and gases, humidity, various oxygen concentrations to the respiratory system of the patient, and chest physical therapy treatments. Ensure the adequate maintenance of ventilation and/or compressions during cardiopulmonary resuscitation, record all pertinent information of treatments, patient response to treatments on respiratory care records and patient chart; place MAR's on patient's chart in proper order. Perform trach care per hospital policy and procedure. Make regular rounds and oxygen equipment at least twice per shift, change humidifiers, change Suction canisters daily, as well as spot-checking other respiratory therapy equipment per hospital policy and procedure. Assist in preparing respiratory care patients for physical therapy, ambulation, transport, etc. Properly stores oxygen tanks per OSHA and hospital guidelines.
