Job summary

Liberty Health in Winston-Salem, NC seeks an experienced Respiratory Therapist to join our compassionate team. You will collaborate with nurses, physicians and other healthcare professionals to manage patient care and monitor oxygen therapy, CPAP and BiPAP support for cardiopulmonary patients.

The role includes assessing new admissions, ventilator care support, patient education on inhalers and respiratory conditions, and documenting care in the EMR.

Qualifications

• Must have AMA approved respiratory therapy program.
• Must have a valid license from the North Carolina Respiratory Care Board.
• High school graduate.
• Must read, know, and follow Facility policies and procedures.

Responsibilities

• Work with nurses, physicians and other health care professionals to manage patient care.
• Set up and monitor oxygen machines, CPAP and BiPAP for cardiopulmonary patients; order supplies as needed.
• Provide respiratory care and therapies per orders.
• Assess patients newly admitted or referred to respiratory services for appropriate care and therapies.
• Assess new admissions for pneumonia reduction strategies and ventilator care as needed.
• Monitor patient responses to therapy (vital signs, labs) and consult physicians as needed.
• Document assessments and therapies in the EMR; participate in care planning.
• Educate patients about cardiopulmonary issues, inhaler use and smoking cessation where applicable.
• Assist with education of nursing staff on respiratory care, equipment, and inhalation treatments.
• Review referrals to ensure care needs can be maintained in the facility.
• Assist with emergency care such as CPR when necessary.
• Other duties as assigned.
