Job summary

Salem Health Hospitals & Clinics is seeking a Respiratory Therapist to provide respiratory therapy modalities per physician orders, primarily on MedSurg with ICU supervision as needed.

The role involves patient assessment, SBAR handoffs, family education, and collaboration with the medical team to deliver high-quality, cost-efficient care. Experience with ventilators and neonatal/pediatric care is valued.

Qualifications

• RRT license and active state certification requirements.
• Strong communication with physicians, patients, and families.
• Ability to educate patients about plan of care and medications.
• Capable of documenting care and SBAR handoffs.
• Cares for neonatal/pediatric patients with appropriate expertise.

Responsibilities

• Assess patients and document clinical condition before and after therapy.
• Coordinate with physicians and families for clear communication.
• Provide SBAR handoffs during shift changes and reassignments.
• Educate patients and families on the continuing plan of care.
• Participate in Lean initiatives to improve care quality and cost efficiency.
• Attend rounds with medical team and discuss new/follow-up cases with MDs.
• Serve as a backup for emergency codes (blue/rapid/ORANGE).
• Perform and monitor home ventilator therapies and tests.
