Job summary

Ochsner Health System Careers in Kenner, LA is seeking a Respiratory Therapist to provide respiratory care, oxygen services, diagnostic testing and ventilation support to patients from neonatal to geriatric. You will monitor and wean oxygen therapy, report arterial blood gases and EKGs, and assist with airway management according to policy.

Required: Associate's Degree, current state license as a Respiratory Therapist, NBRC CRT, BLS, NRP (NICU), ACLS within 90 days.

Qualifications

• Requires Associate's Degree and active state licensure as a Respiratory Therapist.
• Certification by NBRC as a CRT and BLS; NRP for NICU-trained staff.
• ACLS must be obtained within 90 days of hire; strong data entry skills.
• Excellent written and verbal communication; ability to work across teams.

Responsibilities

• Performs routine and advanced therapeutic procedures per policy.
• Reviews and documents clinical information for each patient.
• Educates patients and co-workers on procedures and plans of care.
• Performs diagnostic procedures as required.
• Provides age-appropriate care: neonatal to geriatric.
• Maintains up-to-date professional certifications and knowledge.
• Attends staff meetings and performs related duties as assigned.
