Job summary

Ochsner Health System in Harvey, LA seeks a Respiratory Therapist to deliver RT-CRT care to neonatal to geriatric patients, including oxygen therapy, diagnostic tests and ventilation support, under physician orders.

You will perform ABG analyses, manage therapy weans, educate patients and co-workers, and document clinical information in the patient record. Current state license and NBRC RRT credential required; ACLS within 90 days of hire.

Qualifications

• Associate's degree required; Bachelor's degree preferred.
• Must have current license as a Respiratory Therapist in the state of practice; NBRC Registered Respiratory Therapist.
• Basic Life Support (BLS) from the American Heart Association; ACLS within 90 days of hire.
• Effective verbal and written communication; data entry and retrieval skills.
• Proficiency with Windows-style applications and related software.

Responsibilities

• Performs routine and advanced therapeutic procedures according to established policy and procedure.
• Reviews and documents all clinical information regarding each patient.
• Educates patients and co-workers on procedures and treatment plans.
• Performs diagnostic procedures.
• Provides care based on age-related criteria (neonatal to geriatric).
• Adapts communication and care to the specific patient population.
