AdventHealth is hiring a Respiratory Therapist for night shifts under a StaffFlex contract, with 13 weeks fixed term. The role involves delivering complex respiratory therapies, monitoring patients, and adjusting care per protocols.

Responsibilities

• Monitors and coaches patients before, during, and after treatment.
• Reassesses ventilator settings and patient progress and adjusts care as needed.
• Draws and analyzes arterial blood gases and manages arterial lines per protocol.

Contract & Compensation:

• StaffFlex contract, 13weeks
• Certified or Registered Resp Therapist $69.03/hr + differential 7p-7a, open availability, with rotating weekend shifts
• No on-call
• Time off must be pre-approved

Job Description:

• Delivers routine respiratory treatments and continuous respiratory therapy including aerosol therapy, lung expansion therapy, oxygen therapy, and bronchial hygiene.
• Monitors, instructs, and coaches patients before, during, and after treatment delivery.
• Prevents and/or resolves untoward side effects and adjusts therapies according to protocol and documented clinical criteria.
• Reevaluates patient/ventilator interface a minimum of every four hours, responds to alarms, and troubleshoots as needed.
• Establishes weaning readiness and facilitates the weaning process, adjusting ventilator settings in accordance with patient progress.
• Draws and analyzes arterial and capillary blood gases, places arterial lines, and makes or recommends changes in respiratory management according to blood gas results.
• Recommends changes in respiratory plan of care according to documented medical necessity and within established protocols.
• Ensures the effectiveness of therapist assessment and reassessment by monitoring patient progress.
• Makes and/or recommends changes based on pulse oximetry, peak flow measurement, chest x-ray, lab work, and other data relevant to optimal patient progress.
• Initiates and maintains mechanical ventilation, determining or guiding the determination of ventilator mode and settings.
• Performs other duties as assigned.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

• Patient care skills to care for neonatal, infant, pediatric, adolescent, adult and geriatric patient populations are required.

Education:

• Associate [Required]
• Field of Study: in respiratory care
• Work Experience: 1+ critical care experience [Preferred]

Pay Range: $15.00 - $130.00
