GENERAL OVERVIEW

Provides assessment, treatment, care, and evaluation for patients with respiratory disorders under licensed medical direction.

ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES

• Administers therapeutic respiratory care procedures according to hospital and department policies. (55%)

• Completes documentation required to measure, monitor, and ensure department effectiveness, such as charting, billing, IPOC, and patient/family education. (20%)

• Performs diagnostic respiratory procedures according to hospital and department policies. (20%)

• Provides instruction to patients and other members of the healthcare team as needed. (5%)

• Performs other duties as assigned or required.

QUALIFICATIONS

Minimum

• Graduate of an approved respiratory therapy program

• Pennsylvania licensure as a Respiratory Therapist or Temporary Practice Permit (TPP)

• Certified Respiratory Therapist (CRT) by the National Board of Respiratory Care required prior to the expiration of the TPP

• CPR certification – American Heart Association

• Act 34 Criminal Background Clearance Certificate

• Act 33 Child Abuse Clearance Certificate

• Act 73 FBI Fingerprinting Criminal Background Clearance Certificate

Preferred

• Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) with the National Board of Respiratory Care

• Two years of experience in pulmonary/respiratory medicine in a hospital setting
