Summary

Provides invasive and non-invasive respiratory care under general supervision, evaluating cardiopulmonary function, treating impairments, and assessing treatment effectiveness. Cares for patients across all age groups, from neonates to geriatrics.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

• Must be registered by the National Board on Respiratory Care or certified if within six months of graduation from a Registry Program.
• Must attain RRT within 90 days of graduation or hire date.
• Must hold and maintain an active license to practice Respiratory Care in Ohio.
• Maintain Healthcare Provider status in BLS through the American Heart Association; NRP required for NICU.
• Thorough understanding of respiratory drugs and procedures.
• Strong communication skills for effective interaction with patients, physicians, and staff.
• Clinical experience in airway management, ventilator operation, patient assessment, arterial punctures, and ICU or emergency settings preferred.
• Complete requirements per the Clinical Ladder Policy and maintain certifications.
• Align behaviors with Mercy Health's Mission and Core Values.

Education

• Vocational/Technical Degree in Respiratory Therapy.

Licensure and Certifications

• Completion of an Ohio Respiratory Care Board-approved program.
• Active Ohio Respiratory Care license.

Minimum Qualifications

• Maintain C level provider status and understanding of respiratory drugs.

Hours

• Night shifts, 72 hours per pay period.
• Weekend, holiday, and on-call rotations as per department policy.
