Job summary

UPMC Williamsport is seeking a Respiratory Therapist to provide life-saving care across ICU, OR, ED and beyond. You’ll work under physician direction delivering advanced therapies and supporting patients with cardiopulmonary conditions.

Full-Time (.9 FTE) days with rotation to nights, every other weekend and holiday. Sign-on bonus, competitive salary and comprehensive benefits, plus opportunities for professional development within a supportive, patient‑centered team.

Qualifications

• Graduate of a CoARC-accredited Respiratory Therapy program is required.
• In lieu of an Associate’s degree, candidates must have 5–7 years of experience or NBRC certification.
• Bachelor’s degree in Respiratory Therapy or related field preferred; 2+ years total respiratory care with ≥1 year critical care.
• Must complete one approved department project annually within 3 months of hire.
• RRT credential and PA RCP license; BLS/CPR within 30 days of hire.

Responsibilities

• Administer advanced therapies such as Nitric Oxide and Tracheal Gas Insufflation.
• Perform procedures including bronchoscopy, ABG lab troubleshooting, pulmonary function tests, EEG, EKG, stress testing, etc.
• Monitor patient responses and adjust treatments accordingly.
• Assist in transporting ventilated patients and respond to emergencies.
• Mentor students and junior staff; lead in absence of supervisor.

• Minimum of 2 years of total respiratory care experience, including at least 1 year in critical care
• Must complete one approved department project annually, with the first project approved within 3 months of hire

Licensure, Certifications & Clearances

Required Certifications

• Education & Experience:
• Graduate of a CoARC-accredited Respiratory Therapy program is required
• In lieu of an Associate’s degree, candidates must have 5–7 years of experience or hold NBRC certification
• Bachelor’s degree in Respiratory Therapy or related field is preferred
• Minimum of 2 years of total respiratory care experience, including at least 1 year in critical care
• Must complete one approved department project annually, with the first project approved within 3 months of hire
• Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) from the National Board for Respiratory Care (NBRC)
  • Therapists credentialed after July 1, 2002 must maintain NBRC certification
• Respiratory Care Practitioner (RCP) license in the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania
  • If practicing in Maryland, a Maryland Respiratory Therapist license is required
• Basic Life Support (BLS) or Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) certification (AHA-compliant, including didactic and skills demonstration) within 30 days of hire
