What You Need to Get Started:

Education & Experience:

• Graduate of a CoARC-accredited Respiratory Therapy program required
• Levels require different experience – you can start with no experience!
• Senior level requires willingness to complete a project to benefit the profession, hospital, and/or unit

Licensure & Certifications:

• Certified Respiratory Therapist (CRT) or Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) credential from the National Board for Respiratory Care (NBRC) required.
  • RRTs certified after July 1, 2002 must maintain NBRC certification per NBRC guidelines.
• CTs can take advantage of dedicated support, including tuition assistance, exam reimbursement, and paid study time as they work to become RRTs.
• Respiratory Care Practitioner (RCP) license required in the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania
• Basic Life Support (BLS) or Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR)

Clearances (as applicable):

• Act 33 Clearance (with renewal)
• Act 34 Clearance (with renewal)
• Act 73 FBI Clearance (with renewal)
