Job summary

Endeavor Health's Elmhurst Hospital in Elmhurst, IL seeks a Respiratory Therapist RRT for night shifts. This full-time role offers 36 hours per week with a $25,000 sign-on bonus. Shifts run 7:00pm–7:30am, with every third weekend and rotating holidays.

The ideal candidate will assist physicians, provide neonatal to geriatric care, and document treatments and orders per policy. RRT or registry eligibility and IL license within 6 months are required.

Qualifications

• Graduation from a nationally accredited Respiratory Therapy program.
• Licensure or registry-eligible status required for RRT.
• Illinois licensure within 6 months of employment.
• CPR certification required; ACLS/NRP/PALS within 24 months.

Responsibilities

• Assist physicians with Respiratory Therapy procedures.
• Provide respiratory therapy to neonatal through geriatrics as ordered.
• Assess patients to determine best method of administration.
• Document treatment, maintenance and orders per policy.
• Communicate treatment to patient and family clearly.
• Monitor patient response, with focus on pediatric/neonatal.
• Educate patients and staff.

Education

CoARC-accredited Respiratory Therapy program

Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) certification or registry-eligible

Illinois licensure as Respiratory Care Practitioner within 6 months

American Heart Association CPR certification

ACLS within 24 months

NRP within 24 months

PALS within 24 months

Job description

Hourly Pay Range

$33.16 - $51.40 - The hourly pay rate offered is determined by a candidate's expertise and years of experience, among other factors.

Position Highlights

• Hours : Shifts will vary Monday - Friday from 7:00pm to 7:30am with every third weekend and rotating holidays

What you will do

• Assists Physicians, as requested with Respiratory Therapy procedures
• Provide respiratory therapy to neonatal, pediatric, adolescent, adult and geriatric patients as ordered by physicians according hospital policy and procedures
• Assess patients to determine most suitable method of administering treatment
• Document treatment, equipment maintenance and quality control activities and transcribe verbal or phone order by physicians
• Communicate to patient and family the treatment being performed in a clear manner
• Monitor patient physiological response to therapy with special attention to the pediatric and neonatal patients
• Provide patient and staff education

What you will need

• Education : Graduation from a nationally accredited Respiratory Therapy program, as determined by the Committee on Accreditation for Respiratory Care (CoARC), required.
• License/Certifications : Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) or proof of registry eligible status, required. State of Illinois Respiratory Care Practitioner licensure required within 6 months of employment .
• Current CPR certification issued by the American Heart Association, required .ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support), NRP (Neonatal Resuscitation Program), and PALS (Pediatric Advanced Life Support) required within 24 months of employment.
• Experience : Advanced knowledge of acid-base balance, blood gas analysis and interpretation, and cardiopulmonary physiology.
