Job summary

NorthShore University HealthSystem in Elmhurst, IL is seeking an experienced Respiratory Therapist (RRT) for night shifts. You will work 36 hours per week on a rotating schedule, provide respiratory care to neonatal through geriatric patients, and collaborate with physicians and staff to deliver high-quality care.

This role requires graduation from a CoARC-accredited program, active RRT (or registry eligible), IL license within 6 months, and current CPR.

Qualifications

• Graduation from a nationally accredited Respiratory Therapy program (CoARC).
• Active RRT or registry-eligible status.
• Illinois Respiratory Care Practitioner licensure within 6 months.
• Current CPR certification (American Heart Association).
• ACLS, NRP and PALS required within 24 months of employment.
• Advanced knowledge of acid-base balance, blood gas analysis and cardiopulmonary physiology.

Responsibilities

• Assist Physicians with Respiratory Therapy procedures.
• Provide respiratory therapy to neonatal, pediatric, adult and geriatric patients as ordered.
• Assess patients to determine the most suitable administration method.
• Document treatment, equipment maintenance and quality control; transcribe orders as needed.
• Explain treatments to patients and families clearly.
• Monitor patient response to therapy with emphasis on pediatric and neonatal patients.
• Provide patient and staff education.

Hourly Pay Range:

$33.16 - $51.40 - The hourly pay rate offered is determined by a candidate's expertise and years of experience, among other factors.

Position Highlights:

• Sign on bonus: $25,000
• Position: Respiratory Therapist RRT - Nights
• Location: Elmhurst Hospital - Elmhurst, IL
• Full Time | 36 hours/week
• Hours: Shifts will vary Monday - Friday from 7:00pm to 7:30am with every third weekend and rotating holidays, required.

What you will do:

• Assists Physicians, as requested with Respiratory Therapy procedures
• Provide respiratory therapy to neonatal, pediatric, adolescent, adult and geriatric patients as ordered by physicians according hospital policy and procedures
• Assess patients to determine most suitable method of administering treatment
• Document treatment, equipment maintenance and quality control activities and transcribe verbal or phone order by physicians
• Communicate to patient and family the treatment being performed in a clear manner
• Monitor patient physiological response to therapy with special attention to the pediatric and neonatal patients
• Provide patient and staff education

What you will need:

• Education: Graduation from a nationally accredited Respiratory Therapy program, as determined by the Committee on Accreditation for Respiratory Care (CoARC), required.
• License/Certifications: Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) or proof of registry eligible status, required.
• State of Illinois Respiratory Care Practitioner licensure required within 6 months of employment.
• Current CPR certification issued by the American Heart Association, required.
• ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support), NRP (Neonatal Resuscitation Program), and PALS (Pediatric Advanced Life Support) required within 24 months of employment.
• Experience: Advanced knowledge of acid-base balance, blood gas analysis and interpretation, and cardiopulmonary physiology.
