Job Overview

We are seeking a dedicated and skilled Respiratory Therapist to join our healthcare team. In this vital role, you will provide comprehensive respiratory care to patients across various clinical settings, including hospital medicine, emergency medicine, intensive care units, neonatal units, and outpatient clinics. Your expertise will support patient recovery and stabilization through advanced respiratory therapy techniques, ventilator management, airway management, and critical care interventions. The ideal candidate will possess a strong foundation in physiology, medical terminology, and respiratory devices, contributing to high-quality patient outcomes in a fast-paced environment.

Responsibilities

• Assess patients' respiratory status by evaluating vital signs, oxygen saturation levels, and conducting thorough patient assessments.
• Administer respiratory therapies including oxygen delivery, aerosol treatments, and medication administration tailored to individual patient needs.
• Operate and troubleshoot medical equipment such as ventilators, nebulizers, and other respiratory devices with technical proficiency.
• Manage ventilator settings and perform ventilator management to ensure optimal respiratory support for critically ill patients.
• Respond promptly to cardiac arrest emergencies and participate in cardiac arrest emergency response protocols.
• Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams in various settings such as ICU, PICU (Pediatric Intensive Care Unit), NICU (Neonatal Intensive Care Unit), and trauma centers to deliver specialized respiratory care.
• Document patient care activities accurately within Electronic Health Records (EHR) systems while maintaining compliance with hospital policies.
• Support neonatal resuscitation procedures and neonatal resuscitation protocols for newborns requiring immediate respiratory intervention.
• Monitor patients’ vital signs continuously during treatment to ensure safety and effectiveness of therapies.
• Educate patients and families on respiratory health management and device usage to promote ongoing wellness.

Qualifications

• Valid Respiratory Therapist license or certification recognized by relevant regulatory bodies.
• Proven experience in hospital medicine, ICU, emergency medicine, or critical care environments; PICU or NICU experience is highly desirable.
• Strong knowledge of physiology, anatomy, pulmonology, and medical terminology related to respiratory health.
• Proficiency in ventilator management, airway management techniques, and use of medical equipment operation.
• Experience with electronic health records (EHR) or electronic medical records (EMR) systems for documentation.
• Certification in Basic Life Support (BLS) is required; additional certifications such as Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) or Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP) are preferred.
• Ability to perform patient assessment accurately across diverse populations including pediatrics and geriatrics.
• Demonstrated ability to work effectively within a multidisciplinary healthcare team in inpatient or outpatient settings.
• Strong organizational skills with attention to detail in documentation and equipment maintenance.
