Respiratory Therapist - Respiratory Services - Per Diem 12 Hour Rotating Shift (Non-Exempt) (Union)

Join us at Keck Medicine of USC as a Respiratory Therapist - Respiratory Services - Per Diem 12 Hour Rotating Shift (Non-Exempt) (Union).

Responsibilities

Responsibilities include diagnosing and treating chronic respiratory diseases, prescribing medications, and advising patients on disease management. Under supervision of the Administrative Technologist and physician, set up and operate respiratory care equipment for diagnosis and treatment of respiratory conditions.

Essential Duties

• Perform diagnostic and therapeutic respiratory procedures including oxygen therapy, chest physiotherapy, aerosol therapy, and nebulizer treatments.
• Perform arterial blood gas draws and analysis.
• Set up, operate, and troubleshoot respiratory equipment.
• Assist physicians with bedside and/or bronchoscopy procedures.
• Manage ventilators.
• Participate in interdisciplinary care planning.
• Perform CPR as part of the code blue team.
• Maintain a clean work environment, adhere to infection control standards.
• Administer and monitor nitric oxide therapy (UH only).
• Participate in patient transport.
• Document patient care and follow billing procedures.
• Operate non-invasive monitoring devices.
• Assess patient responses to therapy and communicate with the healthcare team.
• Report workload changes to the Lead RCP.
• Perform additional tasks as assigned by management.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Excellent diagnostic, analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.

Preferred Qualifications

• Associate’s Degree in Respiratory Care.
• 1+ year of relevant experience in an acute care hospital setting.
• ACLS certification from the American Heart Association.

Licenses and Certifications

• Respiratory Care Practitioner (RCP) license (CA DCA).
• Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) (NBRC).
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification (American Heart Association).
• Fire Life Safety Training (LA City) or obtain within 30 days of hire if required.

The hourly rate ranges from $39.00 to $66.45. The university considers various factors when extending offers, including experience, education, skills, and market conditions.
