Respiratory Therapist - Respiratory Services - Per Diem 12 Hour Rotating Shift (Non-Exempt) (Union)

Responsibilities

• Diagnose and treat chronic respiratory diseases, prescribe medications, and advise patients on managing their illnesses.
• Set up and operate respiratory care equipment under supervision, as directed by a physician.
• Perform diagnostic and therapeutic procedures including oxygen therapy, chest physiotherapy, aerosol therapy, and nebulizer treatments.
• Perform arterial blood gas analysis and blood draws.
• Manage ventilators and assist in bronchoscopy procedures.
• Participate in interdisciplinary care planning and emergency response (e.g., CPR, code blue).
• Maintain equipment, adhere to infection control standards, and document patient care.
• Operate monitoring devices, assess patient responses, and communicate with the healthcare team.
• Perform additional tasks as assigned by supervisors.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or equivalent.
• Strong diagnostic, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
• Excellent communication and patient service skills.

Preferred Qualifications

• Associate’s Degree in Respiratory Care.
• 1 year of relevant experience in an acute care hospital.
• American Heart Association ACLS certification.

Licenses/Certifications

• Respiratory Care Practitioner (CA DCA).
• Registered Respiratory Therapist (NBRC).
• Basic Life Support (BLS).
• Fire Life Safety Training (LA City) within 30 days of hire if applicable.

The hourly rate range is $39.00 - $66.45. Salary considerations include experience, education, skills, and other factors.
