Responsibilities
- Diagnose and treat chronic respiratory diseases, prescribe medications, and advise patients on illness management.
- Set up and operate respiratory care equipment under supervision, as directed by a physician.
- Perform diagnostic and therapeutic procedures such as oxygen therapy, chest physiotherapy, aerosol therapy, and nebulizer treatments.
- Conduct arterial blood gas analysis.
- Manage and troubleshoot respiratory equipment.
- Assist physicians with bedside procedures and bronchoscopy.
- Manage ventilators and participate in interdisciplinary care planning.
- Perform CPR as part of the code blue team.
- Maintain a clean work environment and adhere to infection control standards.
- Administer nitric oxide (UH only), participate in patient transport, document patient charts, and handle billing procedures.
- Operate non-invasive monitoring devices and assess patient responses to therapy, making recommendations accordingly.
- Communicate workload changes with the Lead RCP and perform other duties as assigned by management.
Qualifications
- High School diploma or equivalent.
- Excellent diagnostic, analytical, problem-solving, communication, interpersonal, and patient service skills.
Preferred Qualifications
- Associate’s Degree in Respiratory Care.
- 1 year (12-24 months) of experience in acute care hospital respiratory care.
- ACLS Healthcare Provider certification from the American Heart Association.
Licenses and Certifications
- Respiratory Care Practitioner (RCP) license in CA.
- Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) from NBRC.
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification from AHA.
- Fire Life Safety Training (LA City), or obtain within 30 days of hire.
Additional Information
The hourly rate ranges from $39.00 to $66.45. USC considers various factors when extending employment offers, including experience, education, skills, and organizational needs.
