Job summary

Overland Park Regional Medical Center in Overland Park, KS, is seeking a Respiratory Therapist to guide patients through routine care and critical moments. You’ll perform diagnostic and therapeutic procedures while managing ventilation across care settings, with access to advanced respiratory technology and mentorship from RT leaders.

You will assess respiratory status, deliver therapy, manage ventilation, educate patients and families, and maintain equipment following infection-prevention

Qualifications

  • NBRC-RRT certification required.
  • RRT/RCP-State licensure in good standing.
  • Associate degree in Respiratory Therapy or related field.
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) within 30 days of start date.
  • PALS certification within 6 months of start date.

Responsibilities

  • Assess respiratory status by focused exams, breath sounds, and airway patency.
  • Deliver evidence-based therapy including oxygen, aerosols, and airway clearance.
  • Manage ventilation and airways, including invasive and noninvasive support.
  • Educate patients and families and collaborate with physicians and nurses.
  • Maintain and sanitize equipment, ensure readiness, and follow infection-prevention standards.

Job Summary and Qualifications

As a Respiratory Therapist,you’llplay an essential role in guiding patients through both routine care and critical moments.You’llperform diagnostic and therapeutic procedures while managing invasive and noninvasive ventilation across a variety of care settings.You’llhave access to advanced respiratory technology, mentorship from experienced RT leaders, and the support of a dependable, collaborative team that will set you up for success and ongoing professional growth. Your role will include:

  • Assessing respiratory statusby performing focused exams, interpreting breath sounds and airway patency, anddeterminingthe need for respiratory interventions.
  • Deliveringevidence-based therapyby providing oxygen support, aerosolized medications, airway clearance techniques, and other treatments across emergency, critical care, and acute settings.
  • Managing ventilation and airwaysbyassistingwith artificial airway placement,initiatingand adjusting invasive and noninvasive ventilation,monitoringpatientresponses, and responding quickly to clinical changes or emergencies.
  • Supporting patients and the care teamby educating patients and families, serving as a clinical resource, partnering with physicians and nurses, and helping stabilize newborns during deliveries when needed.
  • Maintainingequipment and safetyby setting up,operating, and cleaning respiratory equipment; ensuring readiness and preventive maintenance; transporting ventilated patients safely; and following all infection-prevention standards.
What qualifications you will need:
  • (NBRC-RRT) Registered Respiratory Therapist
  • (RRT/RCP-State) Respiratory Therapist/Practitioner
  • Associate Degree
  • Basic Cardiac Life Support must be obtained within 30 days of employment start date
  • PALS Pediatric Adv Life Supt must be obtained within 6 months of employment start date
