Job summary

Overland Park Regional Medical Center is seeking a Respiratory Therapist (RRT) to deliver diagnostic and therapeutic respiratory care across emergency, critical care, and acute settings. You will help manage ventilation and airway interventions while collaborating with physicians and the care team to ensure optimal patient outcomes.

Eligible candidates will hold NBRC-RRT, state licensure, an Associate Degree, and certifications such as BLS (within 30 days) and PALS (within 6 months).

Qualifications

• NBRC-RRT certification required.
• RRT/RCP-State licensure required.
• Associate Degree required.
• BLS must be obtained within 30 days of employment start date.
• PALS must be obtained within 6 months of employment start date.

Responsibilities

• Assess respiratory status and needs.
• Deliver oxygen, airway clearance, and other therapies.
• Assist with artificial airway placement and ventilation management.
• Educate patients and families; support care team.
• Maintain equipment and ensure infection prevention standards.

Job Summary and Qualifications

Your role will include:

• Assessing respiratory status by performing focused exams, interpreting breath sounds and airway patency, and determining the need for respiratory interventions.
• Deliveringevidence-based therapy by providing oxygen support, aerosolized medications, airway clearance techniques, and other treatments across emergency, critical care, and acute settings.
• Managing ventilation and airways by assistingwith artificial airway placement, initiatingand adjusting invasive and noninvasive ventilation, monitoringpatientresponses, and responding quickly to clinical changes or emergencies.
• Supporting patients and the care team by educating patients and families, serving as a clinical resource, partnering with physicians and nurses, and helping stabilize newborns during deliveries when needed.
• Maintainingequipment and safety by setting up, operating, and cleaning respiratory equipment; ensuring readiness and preventive maintenance; transporting ventilated patients safely; and following all infection-prevention standards.

• (NBRC-RRT) Registered Respiratory Therapist
• (RRT/RCP-State) Respiratory Therapist/Practitioner
• Associate Degree
• Basic Cardiac Life Support must be obtained within 30 days of employment start date
• PALS Pediatric Adv Life Supt must be obtained within 6 months of employment start date
