Job summary

Accendra Health is seeking a Respiratory Therapist to provide in-home respiratory care, education, and equipment setup across Rhode Island and parts of Massachusetts. This role blends branch-based operations with field visits to support patient transitions from hospital to home.

You will perform oxygen, CPAP/BiPAP, and ventilation setups, document care, and collaborate with clinicians to ensure quality patient outcomes. Strong communication and tech skills are essential.

Qualifications

• Active Respiratory Therapist license in Rhode Island or Massachusetts.
• Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) credential required.
• Open to candidates with any level of Respiratory Therapy experience.

Responsibilities

• Conduct home visits to set up oxygen, CPAP/BiPAP, and ventilation equipment and follow ups.
• Educate patients and caregivers on equipment use, cleaning, troubleshooting, and maintenance.
• Assess patient needs, document care delivered, and elevate concerns appropriately.
• Respond to hospital discharge requests and support patient needs.
• Collaborate with physicians, case managers, and internal branch teams.
• Maintain accurate documentation using iPad/laptop.
• Set up and operate various respiratory care equipment (oxygen, nebulization, PAP, ventilation).
• Inspect and test equipment to ensure proper operating condition.
• Perform clinical assessments and tests (pulse oximetry, ETCO2, spirometry).
• Perform other duties as required.

You’ll provide essential respiratory care, equipment setup, patient education, and clinical support while serving a diverse territory across Rhode Island and portions of Massachusetts.

Key Highlights

• Schedule: 8:30 AM – 5:00 PM with flexibility.
• Work Arrangement: On-site; approximately 40% office and 60% field.
• Territory Coverage: Throughout Rhode Island, south toward Boston, and west to Milford.
• Travel: Typical driving distance ranges from 50 to 70 miles one way.

Salary Range

• $35.00 – $42.00 per hour. Compensation may vary based on experience, skills, education, and applicable credentials.

On-Call Transparency

• Rotating on-call schedule every 4th week.
• Shared rotation with the other three Respiratory Therapists in the branch.
• Generally low-volume on-call activity.

What You'll Do

• Educate patients and caregivers on equipment use, cleaning, troubleshooting, and maintenance
• Assess patient needs, document care delivered, and elevate concerns appropriately
• Respond to hospital discharge requests and support patient needs
• Collaborating with physicians, case managers, and internal branch teams
• Maintain accurate documentation using iPad/laptop
• Set up and operate various types of respiratory care equipment, including, but not limited to, oxygen therapy, nebulization therapy, apnea monitoring, suctioning, PAP, invasive and non-invasive ventilation
• Inspects and tests equipment to ensure proper operating condition
• Perform clinical assessments and tests such as pulse oximetry, ETCO2, spirometry and gathering vital signs
• Performs other duties as required

What We Look For

• Active Respiratory Therapist license in Rhode Island or Massachusetts.
  • Ability and willingness to obtain the second state license within the first 90 days of employment.
• Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) credential required
• Open to candidates with any level of Respiratory Therapy experience
• Ability to stand, lift, push and/or pull objects ranging from 10 to 50 lbs.
• Valid driver's license.
• Comfortable using mobile technology, navigation tools, and digital documentation.
• Strong teamwork, customer service, communication, patient education, and organizational skills.

Education

• Graduate of an accredited Respiratory Therapy program

Certificates, licenses, registrations or professional designations

• Hold a current RCP license in the state of practice (or states that the location covers) if that state requires an RCP license to allow the practice of respiratory therapy
• Hold a current CPR Certification
• Hold all applicable licensure in good standing for all states of practice
