Job summary

McLeod Health in Myrtle Beach, SC is seeking a Respiratory Therapist to provide direct patient care and respiratory therapy across the facility, while maintaining professional image and strong patient relations.

The role requires completing procedures as prescribed, participating in educational activities, documenting records, and responding to emergencies with clinical judgement. Accreditation and certifications (NBRC, RRT or new graduate, ACLS, PALS) are required within defined timelines.

Qualifications

• Zero to less than one year of experience in Respiratory Care.
• Must maintain NBRC credential if obtained after July 1, 2002.
• RRT or new graduate with up to 3 months to obtain credential after hire/graduation.
• ACLS and PALS certifications required within specified post-hire timeframes.

Responsibilities

• Organizes workload to ensure therapies are completed as prescribed.
• Participates in RC educational activities and departmental meetings.

• Exercises sound clinical judgement in patient care and monitoring, and communicates with caregivers.
• Evaluates patient care and makes recommendations as needed.
• Performs other duties as assigned.

• Maintains a professional image and exhibits excellent customer relations to patients, visitors, physicians, and co-workers in accordance with our Service Excellence Standards and Core Values.
• Performs direct patient care and the provision of Respiratory Care procedures in all areas within the facility.
• Performs all procedures according to policy & procedure. Organizes workload to ensure therapy is completed as prescribed.
• Participates in all aspects of RC educational activities & departmental meetings.
• Documents & maintains records, charts, and reports in a timely manner & documents appropriately.
• Responds to all emergency alerts in a timely manner & documents appropriately.
• Exercises sound clinical judgement & assessment skills to provide appropriate provision of patient care & monitoring & communication of information to other caregivers.
• Evaluates patient care & makes recommendations when needed.
• Performs all other duties as assigned

Qualifications

• Associate's degree
• Zero to less than one year of experience in Respiratory Care with an Associate of Resp. Care from an accredited CoARC institution
• Participation in the National Board for Respiratory Care's (NBRC) Continuing Competency Program to maintain credential if received credential after July 1, 2002
• Registered Respiratory Therapist or new graduate. New graduates have 3 months to obtain RRT after hire and/or graduation date.
• ACLS certification Must be completed within 3 months of hire or transfer date (Existing employees have 6 months from the date this Job Description is signed to complete training.)
• PALS certification Must be completed within 6 months of hire or transfer date (Existing employees have 6 months from the date this Job Description is signed to complete training.)
