Job summary

Shriners Children’s Hospital in Sacramento, CA is seeking a Per Diem Respiratory Therapist to provide family-centered, age-appropriate cardiopulmonary care on-site. You will collaborate with the health care team to assess patient and family needs, document findings, and support safe operation of life support equipment.

The role includes leadership opportunities as assigned, potential precepting, and participation in committees or projects.

Qualifications

• CA RT licensure required.
• BLS and PALS within 6 months of hire.
• Pediatric experience preferred.
• National Registration by National Board for Respiratory Care is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Ventilator management, high frequency ventilation, tracheostomy tube management, bronchoscopy, pulmonary function testing, sedation, blood gas and indirect calorimetry.
• Provides primary respiratory care to patients from admission through discharge, and charts appropriately.
• Serves as a resource and provides education to students, nurses, and new employees as needed.
• Assures safe, cost-effective operation and function of pertinent equipment and utilizes appropriate infection control techniques in all areas.
