Job summary

Shriners Children's in Portland, OR is seeking a full-time Respiratory Therapist to provide family-centered, age-appropriate respiratory care from admission through discharge.

You will serve as a clinical resource, educate students and staff, ensure safe operation of life-support equipment, follow infection control practices, and participate in hospital/departmental committees or research as needed. Current RT license and NBRC registration required, BLS and PALS mandated.

Qualifications

  • Associates degree in Respiratory Therapy or equivalent required.
  • RT License in state of practice and NBRC National Registration required.
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification mandatory.
  • Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) certification preferred or required as stated.

Responsibilities

  • Provide primary respiratory care from admission through discharge.
  • Educate students, interns, residents, nurses, and new employees as needed.
  • Ensure safe operation of life-support equipment and maintain infection control protocols.
  • Participate in hospital/departmental committees and special projects as assigned.

Utilize assessment findings in a timely manner to establish patient and family needs in collaboration with the health care team. Communicate findings in both verbal and written format. Seek personal/ professional development, assure safe operation of the life support equipment and perform other duties as required. Take a leadership role as assigned, act as a clinical resource to other departments. May precept staff after displaying proficiency. Participate in hospital / departmental committees, special projects and research.
