Job summary

Corewell Health's Helen DeVos Children's Hospital in Grand Rapids is seeking a Respiratory Therapist for a part-time night shift. You will work with a skilled team to diagnose, monitor, and treat pediatric and adult respiratory conditions, ensuring high-quality care.

The role requires an Associate or Bachelor’s degree in Respiratory Therapy, state licensure, NBRC credentials, and active CPR/NRP/ACLS/BLS certifications. A supportive benefits package and learning opportunities are provided.

Qualifications

• Required Associate's Degree Respiratory Therapy.
• Preferred Bachelor's Degree Respiratory Therapy.
• 2 years of relevant experience in pulmonary rehabilitation, respiratory care, sleep medicine or equivalent clinical education.
• LIC-Respiratory Therapist - STATE_MI Upon Hire required.
• CRT-Respiratory Therapist Registry - NBRC Upon Hire required.
• CRT-NRP - AHA 90 Days required.
• CRT-ACLS - AHA 90 Days required.
• CRT-BLS - AHA 90 Days required or ARC 90 Days required.
• Ideal candidate will be a Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT).
• RT Students, CRTs, and/or RRTs may apply.

Responsibilities

• Help patients breathe more easily and live life more comfortably with a clinical respiratory care team.
• Perform evaluation to determine respiratory care needs and make recommendations per policy.
• Assess treatment effectiveness and document per standards.
• Perform point of care testing as required.
• Perform advanced evaluation, management and therapeutic procedures for patients needing respiratory support.
• Document interventions and education within designated timeframe.
• Maintain competency and ensure proper billing and documentation.
• Educate patients and families on respiratory care and facilitate referrals as needed.
• Instruct and train other staff and students regarding patient needs and respiratory care services.

Scope of Work

• As a Respiratory Therapist with Corewell Health, you can help patients breathe more easily and live life more comfortably. You'll collaborate with a highly skilled clinical team to help diagnose, monitor, and treat conditions that affect the lungs and breathing in people of all ages.
• Performs evaluation to determine respiratory care needs, and makes appropriate recommendations and changes in accordance with policy and protocol guidelines.
• Assesses effectiveness of treatment and accurately documents according to department and legal/regulatory standards.
• Performs point of care testing as required.
• Performs advanced evaluation, management and therapeutic procedures (interventions) for patients requiring respiratory assistance.
• Assesses effectiveness of intervention and accurately documents according to department and legal/regulatory standards.
• Completes and documents required education and competencies within designated timeframe.
• Maintains competency in areas of accountability.
• Accurate and timely completion of all necessary documentation and billing.
• Facilitates a smooth transition for the patient to appropriate referral services / the next point of service / home and provides education to patients and families as it relates to respiratory issues.
• Instructs and trains other respiratory care staff, nursing and other medical personnel and students regarding patient needs and respiratory care services.

• CRT-Basic Life Support (BLS) - ARC American Red Cross 90 Days required
• Ideal candidate will be a Registered Respiratory Therapist or RRT
