Job summary

Corewell Health Lakeland is seeking a Respiratory Therapist to collaborate with a skilled clinical team and deliver expert respiratory care. The role involves evaluation, monitoring, and treatment for patients of all ages with lung conditions.

The ideal candidate will hold an Associate’s Degree in Respiratory Therapy with state licensure and NBRC CRT credentials, plus BLS/ACLS. A Registered Respiratory Therapist is preferred and prior pulmonary rehab experience is valued.

Qualifications

• Requires Associate's Degree in Respiratory Therapy and state licensure.
• Additional certifications (NBRC CRT, CHT, NRP, ACLS, BLS) are preferred.
• Ideal candidate will be a Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT).
• Experience in pulmonary rehab, respiratory care, or sleep medicine.
• Ability to instruct and train staff and students in respiratory care.

Responsibilities

• Evaluate patients to determine respiratory care needs per policy and document findings.
• Perform advanced evaluation and therapeutic procedures for patients needing respiratory support.
• Complete required education and maintain competencies.
• Ensure accurate documentation and billing for services.
• Educate patients and families on respiratory issues and transition to next care steps.
• Train other staff and students in respiratory care responsibilities.

Scope of Work

As a Respiratory Therapist with Corewell Health, you can help patients breathe more easily and live life more comfortably. You'll collaborate with a highly skilled clinical team to help diagnose, monitor, and treat conditions that affect the lungs and breathing in people of all ages.

• Performs evaluation to determine respiratory care needs, and makes appropriate recommendations and changes in accordance with policy and protocol guidelines. Assesses effectiveness of treatment and accurately documents according to department and legal/regulatory standards. Performs point of care testing as required.
• Performs advanced evaluation, management and therapeutic procedures (interventions) for patients requiring respiratory assistance. Assesses effectiveness of intervention and accurately documents according to department and legal/regulatory standards.
• Completes and documents required education and competencies within designated timeframe. Maintains competency in areas of accountability.
• Accurate and timely completion of all necessary documentation and billing.
• Facilitates a smooth transition for the patient to appropriate referral services / the next point of service / home and provides education to patients and families as it relates to respiratory issues.
• Instructs and trains other respiratory care staff, nursing and other medical personnel and students regarding patient needs and respiratory care services.

• CRT-Sedation - ANCC American Nurses Credentialing Center Bronchoscopy and Endoscopy 180 Days required
• CRT-Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP) - AHA American Heart Association Regional Hospitals and NICU 90 Days required
• CRT-Adv Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) - AHA American Heart Association Cardiac and Pulmonary Rehab 90 Days required
• CRT-Basic Life Support (BLS) - AHA American Heart Association 90 Days required Or
• CRT-Basic Life Support (BLS) - ARC American Red Cross 90 Days required
• Ideal candidate will be a Registered Respiratory Therapist or RRT
