Nemours Children's Health in Pensacola, FL, seeks a part-time Respiratory Therapist to support our Pediatric Outpatient Specialty Care Clinic. The RT performs routine and specialty pulmonary function testing, arterial blood gas sampling, and patient assessments. Education to patients/guardians is provided to improve outcomes.

The role requires Florida CRT/RRT licensure, BLS, and PALS (or within 1 year). This position shares in maintaining equipment, EMR documentation, and coordinating tests

Qualifications

  • Must hold current Florida respiratory therapist licensure.
  • Minimum 1 year of clinical RT experience.
  • BLS required; PALS preferred or obtained within 1 year.
  • Experience with pulmonary function testing equipment.

Responsibilities

  • Perform routine and specialty pulmonary function and stress testing.
  • Conduct arterial/capillary blood gas sampling as needed.
  • Assess and reassess patient condition; document findings in EMR.
  • Educate patients/guardians to improve care outcomes.
  • Maintain and calibrate diagnostic equipment; ensure QC is complete.
  • Manage supplies for pulmonary function lab and assist clinic flow.
  • Coordinate referrals/tests and assist with bronchoscopy as needed.
  • Ensure accurate ICD coding and timely chart documentation.

Respiratory Therapist-part-time (Finance)

Nemours Children's Health is hiring a Respiratory Therapist (RT) in our Pediatric Outpatient Specialty Care Clinic. The Respiratory Therapist, part-time, performs routine and specialty pulmonary function testing, stress testing, and metabolic assessment testing. Performs complete and accurate patient assessment or reassessment. Provides education to the patient and /or patient/guardian in a manner that the recipient understands in order to contribute to positive patient care outcome and patient satisfaction. Performs arterial and capillary punctures for blood gas analysis. Performs quality controls and ensures preventative maintenance is completed on diagnostic equipment. Maintains and orders supplies necessary for pulmonary function lab. Assist with patient flow of clinic.

Schedule:

Tuesday 8 am to 5 pm

Primary Responsibilities:
  • Performs routine and specialty pulmonary function testing, stress testing, and metabolic assessment testing.
  • Performs complete and accurate patient assessment or reassessment.
  • Provides education to the patient and /or patient/guardian in a manner that the recipient understands in order to contribute to positive patient care outcome and patient satisfaction.
  • Performs arterial and capillary punctures for blood gas analysis.
  • 4. Performs quality controls and ensures preventative maintenance is completed on diagnostic equipment.
  • 5. Maintains and orders supplies necessary for pulmonary function lab.
  • 6. Assist with patient flow of clinic.
  • Obtain vital signs.
  • Captures and enters patient information into EMR.
  • Collects and prepares laboratory specimens.
  • Ensures appropriate documentation such as x-rays and laboratory reports are available for provider's review.
  • Rooms patients into exam room with preparation for exam and assists provider with exam.
  • Handles all telephone calls in a courteous and timely manner with documentation of call in EMR.
  • 7. Ensure provider's orders are carried out:
  • a. Under the direction of the provider schedules PT/OT, surgery, and diagnostic test to include pre-authorization and notification of patient.
  • b. Assists provider with bronchoscopy if needed.
  • 8. Ensures medications are safely stored in an appropriate area as designated by law, and that medication expiration dates are evaluated on a monthly schedule.
  • a. Familiar with pharmacokinetics, contraindications, side effects, mode of administration of all medications provider prescribes.
  • 9. Ensures accurate ICD-10 and CPT-4 codes are recorded.
  • 10. Documentation of CF NBS grant to ensure all documentation is done necessary for grant deliverables are done in a timely manner.
Required Qualifications:
  • Certified as a Respiratory Therapist by National Board of Respiratory Care or Registered Respiratory Therapist by National Board of Respiratory Care
  • Current licensure in Florida as a Certified Respiratory Therapist or Current licensure in Florida as Registered Respiratory Therapist
  • Current BLS certification with the American Heart Association
  • Current PALS certification or obtained within one year of employment
  • At least 1 year of experience
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Registered as a Respiratory Therapist by National Board of Respiratory Care or Registered Respiratory Therapist by National Board of Respiratory care achieved prior to July 2002
