Job summary

Nemours in Orlando, FL is seeking a Respiratory Therapist to perform routine and emergency respiratory care across patient care areas. The role includes clinical direction, education to staff, and collaboration with nurses and physicians. Schedule is 72 hours biweekly, day shift with weekend/holiday requirements.

A $15K sign-on bonus is offered. Florida license and NBRC-RRT are required. BLS is mandatory; PALS within 6 months of hire.

Qualifications

• Florida license and NBRC-RRT credential required.
• AHA BLS required; PALS within 6 months of hire.
• External applicants only for sign-on bonus eligibility.
• 3 years of Pediatric ICU RT experience for sign-on bonus eligibility.

Responsibilities

• Verify physician orders for respiratory care and provide age-appropriate care.
• Assess patients clinically and evaluate therapy appropriateness.
• Provide aerosolized medication therapy and airway clearance therapies.
• Ventilator setup and management; perform non-invasive monitoring.
• Document care, patient assessments, and orders in EMR; enter charges.
• Participate in discharge planning and home-care education.
• Provide recommendations and education to physicians and nurses regarding respiratory care.
• Evaluate respiratory care equipment and stay updated on policies and procedures.

Job description

Respiratory Therapist - DAYS (Finance)

Nemours is seeking a RT to join our team here in Orlando, Florida! This position is responsible for: Providing, under the general direction of the Therapist in Charge or Assistant Director of Respiratory Care, all routine and emergency respiratory care in all patient care areas. The Respiratory Therapists provide clinical direction for respiratory care trainees and technicians. The therapists provide consultation and education to other healthcare professionals as well. The therapist is in routine contact with patients during the provision of hands‑on care and in frequent contact with patients' families. The respiratory therapist will have contact with other hospital staff, such as nurses and physicians.

Schedule: 72 hours biweekly, day shift with weekend and holiday requirements.

Position Responsibilities:

• Additional miscellaneous duties and responsibilities, as may be assigned from time to time by employee's supervisor.
• Verify all physician orders for respiratory care and provide age and developmental-appropriate care to infants, children, adolescents, and adults.
• Assess patients clinically and evaluate for appropriateness of therapy.
• Provide aerosolized medication therapy, provide airway clearance therapies , airway management such as trach changes, tube taping, suctioning, medical gas therapy., ventilator setup and management., perform non-invasive monitoring, i.e., pulse oximetry, transcutaneous O2/CO2 and end-tidal CO2 monitoring, assist with in-house and inter-facility transports.
• Provide emergency respiratory care, i.e., airway management and cardiopulmonary resuscitation, perform arterial blood gas sampling, point of care testing and electrocardiograms, and participate in airway management during bronchoscopies.
• Document care provided, patient assessment and patient care orders in electronic medical record (EMR) or hard copy when necessary. Enter charges in EMR
• Participate in discharge planning and home-care education by training patients, their families, and designated care providers.
• Provide recommendations and education to physicians and nurses regarding respiratory care.
• Participate in the evaluation or respiratory care equipment and procedures and maintain current knowledge about departmental policies and procedures.

Position Requirements:

• Florida State License required
• NBRC - RRT required
• American Heart Association BLS required; PALS within 6 months of hire

Sign on Bonus Eligibility:

• Must have 3 years of Pediatric ICU RT experience and will receive a $15,000 sign on bonus
