Job description

The Health Care Specialist performs equipment setups in a timely and professional manner. This employee is generally responsible for the setup of highly technical equipment such as ventilators, monitors, and CPAP units. The Health Care Specialist also provides technical assistance with equipment and may perform setup of all types of oxygen equipment.

Responsibilities include:

1. Providing patient education as an integral part of patient care, often in the patient's home.
2. Using a personal vehicle with a valid driver’s license for job-related travel.
3. Conducting complete and professional patient assessments according to policies and procedures.
4. Maintaining current knowledge of respiratory homecare techniques and relevant respiratory therapy concepts.
5. Following applicable policies and procedures outlined in the Safety & Regulatory Manual, including safety, OSHA, DOT, FDA, and emergency planning protocols.
6. Representing the company through professional appearance, patient care activities, and accurate written reports.
7. Facilitating prescription collection.
8. Maintaining patient records in an organized manner that complies with accreditation standards.
9. Working on-call after hours and on weekends as needed, with frequency determined by center size and staffing.
10. Responding promptly to patient and operational needs.
