Job summary

Lincare in Baltimore, MD is hiring a Respiratory Equipment Technician to set up ventilators, monitors, CPAP units, and related oxygen equipment in patients’ homes and clinical settings.

You will perform patient education, comprehensive assessments, and maintain records per safety standards. A valid driver’s license and home healthcare experience are required; on-call evenings and weekends apply.

Qualifications

• Level 1: familiar with home healthcare equipment
• Level 2: minimum two years in home healthcare
• Level 3: minimum three years in home healthcare; may train others
• Must have valid driver’s license and own vehicle

Responsibilities

• Provides patient education as part of patient care
• Performs comprehensive patient assessments per policy
• Maintains knowledge of respiratory homecare techniques
• Follows Safety & Regulatory Manual (OSHA, DOT, FDA) policies
• Represents Lincare with professional appearance and written reports
• Facilitates prescription collection
• Maintains patient records in organized manner per accreditation standards
• On-call evenings and weekends as scheduled, with timely responses

Offering $25 to $40 per hour

This employee performs equipment setups in a timely and professional manner.

• Generally responsible for the setup of highlytechnical equipment such as ventilators, monitors, and CPAP units
  • Also responsible for providing technicalassistance with equipment
  • Incumbent may perform setup of all types of oxygen equipment as well

JOB FUNCTIONS

• Provides patient education as an intricate part of the patient care activity according to the patient need andLincare policy, frequently in patients' homes
  • Requires use of a personal vehicle with a valid driver's license
• Performs complete and professional patient assessments in accordance with Lincare policies and procedures
• Maintains current knowledge of respiratory homecare techniques and relevant respiratory therapy concepts
• Follows applicable policies and procedures of the Safety & Regulatory Manual regarding General Safety, OSHA(includes the proper use of Personal Protective Equipment), DOT (driving safety), FDA, and Emergency Planning
• Represents Lincare through professional personal appearance, patient care activities, and content of writtenreports
• Facilitates prescription collection
• Maintains patient records in complete and organized manner in compliance with accreditation standards
• Works on-call evenings and weekends on an as scheduled basis
  • Frequency is determined by the center size andthe number of employees available to share in the responsibility
  • Must respond in a timely manner

Work Experience

• Level 1 - Familiar with equipment and services provided in the home healthcare setting, or other patient care, Required
• Level 2 - Minimum of two years in home healthcare, Required
• Level 3 - Minimum of three years in home healthcare
  • May be involved in training of other Healthcare Specialists, Required

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

• excellent human relations to interface with doctors, other referral sources, and patients
• computer literate
• clinician authorized within scope of practice (as established by applicable state law or if none, by the applicable national board) to provide all patient care services offered by Lincare from time to time
• Subject to state law/regulation, RNs, LPNs, LVNs, paramedics, EMTs, and other clinicians may also be qualified for this position
  • If applicable, based on the requirements of state, in addition to a valid state license, current National Board of Respiratory Care Credentials may also be required for
    CRTs and RRTs.
  • Subject to State requirements and management approval, on an exception basis,
    a person may be hired that does not meet all the above certifications and training, but practices respiratory therapy as authorized by applicable state law

Licenses and Certifications

• Must have completed all training/education required to obtain requisite certification, registration, and/or license described below, Required
• Must remain certified, registered, or licensed by the applicable state and/or
  national board governing clinical practice or as otherwise permitted by law
• In all states, CRTs and RRTs are qualified for this position, Required
