Job summary

The University of Iowa Health Care Downtown Campus is seeking a Respiratory Therapist to deliver oxygen and aerosol therapies, ventilator support, and blood gas analysis as part of the respiratory care team.

Graduates of CoARC/AMA-approved programs with Iowa licensure and CPR certification are encouraged to apply. This part-time role offers extensive benefits and a $10,000 sign-on incentive for eligible candidates. Night shifts Sun–Thu 6p–6a on campus.

Qualifications

• Graduate of a two- or four-year AMA/CoARC approved Respiratory Therapy program.
• Possess a current State of Iowa Respiratory Care Practitioner license.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills are required.
• CPR certification is required.
• Obtain registry from the National Board for Respiratory Care within six months of hire.

Responsibilities

• Perform oxygen and aerosol therapy and administration of specialty gases.
• Apply ventilators and perform arterial puncture and blood gas analysis.
• Implement patient-driven protocols and consult with physicians/nurses on respiratory care plans.
• Cross-train with Emergency Department staff for assessments and protocols as needed.
