Job summary

The University of Iowa Health Care Downtown Campus is seeking a Respiratory Therapist to perform respiratory therapy duties including oxygen/ aerosol therapy, ventilator support, arterial blood gas analysis, and more. The role involves collaboration with physicians and nurses to implement care plans and may include cross-training in the ED.

Selected candidates with 2+ years of experience may be eligible for a $10,000 sign-on incentive with a two-year commitment; UI employees are not eligible.

Qualifications

• Graduate of a CoARC-approved respiratory therapy program.
• Current State of Iowa Respiratory Care Practitioner license.
• Current CPR certification.
• Obtain NBRC registry within six months of hire.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Provide oxygen and aerosol therapy; administer specialty gases and ventilator support.
• Perform arterial puncture and blood gas analysis.
• Consult with physicians and nurses on respiratory care plans; implement orders.
• Cross-training with Emergency Department staff for assessments and procedures.
