Highmark Health is seeking a Respiratory Therapist to provide assessment, treatment, care, and evaluation for patients with respiratory disorders under licensed medical direction. The role involves performing therapeutic procedures, completing documentation for quality monitoring, and conducting diagnostic respiratory assessments.

Ideal candidates hold PA licensure or TPP, CRT certification, and ideally an RRT.

Qualifications

• Must be a graduate of an approved respiratory therapy program.
• PA state licensure as Respiratory Therapist or Temporary Practice Permit (TPP).
• CRT certification required prior to expiration of the TPP.
• RRT preferred but not required.
• Two years’ hospital-based pulmonary/respiratory medicine experience.

• Administers therapeutic respiratory care procedures according to hospital and department policies (55%).
• Completes required documentation to measure, monitor, and ensure department effectiveness (e.g., charting, billing, IPOC, patient/family education) (20%).
• Performs diagnostic respiratory procedures according to hospital and department policies (20%).
• Provides instruction to patients and other healthcare team members as needed (5%).
• Performs other duties as assigned or required.

GENERAL OVERVIEW:

Provides assessment, treatment, care, and evaluation for patients with respiratory disorders under licensed medical direction.

ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES:

• (55%) Administers therapeutic respiratory care procedures according to hospital and department policies.
• (20%) Completes documentation that is required to measure, monitor, and ensure department effectiveness e.g., charting, billing, IPOC, patient/family education.
• (20%) Performs diagnostic respiratory procedures according to hospital and department policies.
• (5%) Provides instruction to patients and other members of the healthcare team as needed.
• Performs other duties as assigned or required.

QUALIFICATIONS:

• Minimum Graduate of an approved respiratory therapy.
• Pennsylvania state licensure as a Respiratory Therapist or Temporary Practice Permit (TPP).
• Certified Respiratory Therapist (CRT) National Board of Respiratory Care required prior to the expiration of the Temporary Practice Permit (TPP).
• Preferred Registered with the National Board of Respiratory Care RRT.
• Two years’ experience in pulmonary/respiratory medicine in a hospital setting.

Additional Employment Requirements:

• CPR – American Heart Association.
• Act 34 Criminal Background Clearance Certificate.
• Act 33 Child Abuse Clearance Certificate.
• Act 73 FBI Fingerprinting Criminal Background Clearance Certificate.
