Job summary

Massachusetts General Hospital is seeking a Respiratory Therapist to join an active patient-care team. You will initiate and adjust respiratory procedures for critically ill patients, including NICU therapies, and provide bedside care alongside physicians and nurses.

You will respond to emergencies, prepare care plans, and support education for students and staff. Strong communication and rapid assessment are essential in this role.

Analyzes and evaluates clinical patient data to determine the appropriate therapy or interventions and makes recommendations on patient care plans to the medical staff.Does this position require Patient Care? YesEssential Functions-Initiates and/or assists with appropriate respiratory tests and procedures, as ordered, to deliver appropriate care to patients. This includes moderate complexity point of care (POC) testing for Blood Gas Analysis.-Responds to respiratory emergencies, including high-risk deliveries, and transports patients as indicated.-Prepares appropriate care plan and makes specific recommendations to physician for indicated therapy. Schedules patient treatments as necessary and provides consultation as an active member of the patient care team.-Manages the administration of all aspects of respiratory therapy according to respiratory care policies and procedures, including NICU-specific therapies.-Makes regular bedside rounds and administers Respiratory Care modalities to assigned patients. Modifies treatment care plan according to clinical picture and response to therapy.-Participates in education of students, physicians, staff, patients, and families.QualificationsEducation Associate's Degree Respiratory Therapy required and Bachelor's Degree Respiratory Therapy preferred Can this role accept experience in lieu of a degree?
