Job summary

Woodlands Senior Care Centers seeks a Registered Respiratory Therapist Manager (RRT) for the AustinWoods Vent Unit in Ohio. The role oversees the Respiratory Therapy Department with staffing, scheduling, and policy development, ensuring compliance with applicable regulations and QAPI activities.

The candidate will supervise RT staff, manage ventilator-dependent residents, and provide high‑level respiratory care and education.

Qualifications

• RRT certification required.
• Current BLS and ACLS.
• Minimum 3 years clinical respiratory therapy experience, LTC preferred.
• At least 1 year supervisory experience preferred.

Responsibilities

• Oversee daily respiratory therapy operations: staffing, scheduling, workflow.
• Supervise, train, and evaluate staff.
• Develop and monitor department policies and QAPI activities.
• Prepare monthly QAPI and RT billing reports.
• Manage equipment, supplies, vendors, and audits.
• Provide respiratory treatments and ventilator care.
• Respond to emergencies and coordinate with nursing/medical teams.

Job Functions:

• Oversee daily Respiratory Therapy Department operations, including staffing, scheduling, workflow, and resources.
• Supervise, train, and evaluate respiratory therapy staff.
• Requirements: Maintain compliance with Woodlands policies, Ohio Department of Health, CMS, and other applicable regulations.
• Develop and monitor department policies, procedures, and QAPI activities.
• Prepare monthly QAPI and respiratory therapy billing reports.
• Manage respiratory equipment, supplies, vendors, and required audits.
• Conduct and oversee respiratory assessments and develop individualized respiratory care plans.
• Provide respiratory treatments including oxygen therapy, nebulizer treatments, chest physiotherapy, airway management, and ventilator care.
• Manage and monitor ventilator-dependent residents under the direction of the Pulmonologist and Medical Director.
• Respond to respiratory emergencies and communicate changes in resident condition to appropriate nursing and medical personnel.
• Collaborate with nursing, physicians, rehabilitation, and other interdisciplinary team members.
• Provide respiratory education and support to residents, families, and nursing staff.
• Maintain accurate documentation in PointClickCare and ensure appropriate resident identification.
• Assist with respiratory-related admissions, transfers, and discharge planning.
• Ensure respiratory equipment is safe, functional, properly maintained, and available.
• Participate in government surveys, staff meetings, evaluations, and required committees.
• Provide 24/7 on-call coverage for urgent respiratory and departmental needs.
• Perform other duties as assigned by facility administration.

Qualifications

• Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) required.
• Current BLS and ACLS certifications.
• Minimum of 3 years of clinical respiratory therapy experience, preferably in skilled nursing/long-term care.
• At least 1 year of supervisory experience preferred.
• Ventilator management experience preferred.
• Strong clinical, leadership, communication, and organizational skills.
• Ability to successfully complete a pre-employment background check.
