Job summary

UMass Memorial Health is seeking a Respiratory Therapist for a 12-hour night shift on the Memorial Campus. The role monitors patients on ventilation, assists with intubations, and supports diagnostic and therapeutic procedures across bronchoscopy and airway management.

A strong NBRC credential and ongoing education are required. Eligible external candidates may qualify for a $10,000 sign-on bonus; cross-campus coverage is possible and state licensure is required.

Qualifications

• Current MA respiratory license.
• New graduates have 2 months after hire date to become a registered respiratory therapist as a condition of employment/termination of employment.
• Current NBRC registration – Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) credential.
• Minimum of an Associate’s degree or equivalent in Respiratory Care.
• Current certification in Basic Cardiac Life Support or equivalent.
• Current Neonatal Resuscitation certification.
• Preferred: Bachelor’s degree in Respiratory Care or related field.
• Current ACLS certification.
• Current PALS certification – Memorial Campus.
• Experience in Critical Care with technical and computer skills.

Responsibilities

• Monitors and supports patients on mechanical ventilation.
• Assists physician/anesthesia during intubations.
• Assists bronchoscopies and tracheotomies at the bedside under bronchoscopic guidance.
• Establishes treatment plans and modifies therapy per department protocols.
• Obtains arterial blood gases and analyzes samples.
• Sets up and monitors ventilators and oxygen delivery equipment.
• Coordinates and maintains airway carts and high-risk airway assessments.
• May perform pulse oximetry and other monitoring as required.
