Job summary

Accendra Health is seeking a Respiratory Therapist to perform home visits and hospital discharge support across metro branches in the Hanover Park area. The role emphasizes in-home patient care, device setup, and education, with flexible scheduling and strong teamwork with physicians and case managers.

The position requires a graduate of an accredited Respiratory Therapy program, active licensure, and willingness to travel. On-site work with 75% road duty and 25% in-office is expected.

Qualifications

• Registered Respiratory Therapist with an active state license (SC RT).
• Open to various experience levels; preference for experienced candidates.
• DME experience is a plus.
• Ability to stand, lift, push and/or pull objects 10–50 lbs.
• Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation.
• Comfortable using mobile technology, navigation tools and digital documentation.

Responsibilities

• Conduct home visits to set up oxygen, CPAP/BiPAP, and ventilation equipment and follow-ups.
• Educate patients and caregivers on equipment use, cleaning, troubleshooting and maintenance.
• Assess patient needs, document care, and escalate concerns appropriately.
• Respond to hospital discharge requests and support patient needs with physicians and case managers.
• Maintain accurate documentation using iPad or laptop.
• Operate various respiratory care equipment including oxygen, nebulization, PAP, and ventilation.

This role is ideal for a Respiratory Therapist who enjoys extensive patient interaction and variety in their day. With most time spent in the field supporting metro branches, the role offers flexibility tied to hospital discharge volume and meaningful in‑home and hospital‑based patient care.

Key Highlights

• Coverage Area: Hanover Park, IL and supports Waukegan and Bolingbrook metro branches.
• Work Arrangement: On‑site; 75% road, 25% in-office.
• Hours: 8:30 AM – 5:00 PM; flexibility to 9:00–5:30 PM or 10:00–6:30 PM.
• Reimbursements: Mileage reimbursed at $0.70 per mile.
• Salary Range $36 - $40 per hour.
• Compensation offered may vary based on job‑related factors such as experience, skills, education and location.
• On‑Call Transparency One weekday on‑call and one weekend per month.

What you’ll do

• Conduct home visits to perform oxygen, CPAP/BiPAP, and ventilation equipment setups and follow‑ups.
• Educate patients and caregivers on equipment use, cleaning, troubleshooting, and maintenance.
• Assess patient needs, document care delivered, and escalation concerns appropriately.
• Respond to hospital discharge requests and support patient needs, Collaborating with physicians, case managers, and internal branch teams.
• Maintain accurate documentation using iPad/laptop.
• Set up and operate various types of respiratory care equipment, including, but not limited to, oxygen therapy, nebulization therapy, apnea monitoring, suctioning, PAP, invasive and non‑invasive ventilation.
• Inspects and tests equipment to ensure proper operating condition.
• Perform clinical assessments and tests such as pulse oximetry, ETCO₂, spirometry and gathering vital signs.
• Performs other duties as required.

What we look for

• Registered Respiratory Therapist with an active SC RT license.

Education

Graduate of an accredited Respiratory Therapy program.

Certificates, licenses, registrations or professional designations

• Hold a current RCP license in the state of practice (or states that the location covers) if that state requires an RCP license to allow the practice of respiratory therapy.
• Hold a current CPR Certification.
• Hold all applicable licensure in good standing for all states of practice.
