Job summary

HCA Houston Healthcare Medical Center is seeking a Respiratory Therapist (CRT) to provide respiratory care and testing per physician orders. You will set up equipment, monitor ventilators, perform arterial blood analysis, and document treatments and responses.

The role involves patient rounds, education, and collaboration with clinicians to ensure high-quality care. Requirements include NBRC-CRT certification and vocational training; Basic Life Support within 30 days of employment.

Qualifications

• NBRC-CRT certification or current credentials.
• Vocational school graduation is required.
• BCLS certification within 30 days of start date.

Responsibilities

• Provide respiratory care procedures and testing per physician orders.
• Set up equipment and medications; document treatment, response and progress.
• Operate and monitor ventilator for patients unable to breathe spontaneously.
• Perform arterial puncture and arterial blood analysis.
• Observe patient status, adjust care as needed during rounds.
• Record vitals and equipment settings as required by procedure.
• Educate patients, families, or staff on respiratory therapies.
• Ensure quality respiratory therapy and collaborate with medical staff.
• Assist with pulmonary function studies and bronchoscopy as needed.
• Maintain cleaning and sterilization of respiratory therapy equipment.
