Job summary

Saint Francis Hospital is looking for a Respiratory Therapist to provide patient-centered respiratory care in a part-time capacity. You will set up and operate ventilators and related devices, while collaborating with physicians and staff to ensure high-quality outcomes.

The role requires an associate degree, CT licensure, and NBRC RRT/CRT certification, with duties including independent clinical judgment and managing diverse respiratory cases.

Qualifications

• Graduate of an accredited Respiratory Care program with an associate degree.
• Current CT Respiratory Care Practitioner license.
• NBRC RRT or CRT certification required.
• Thorough knowledge of respiratory care procedures.

Responsibilities

• Function clinically with significant independent judgment for quality patient care.
• Serve as a technical resource to physicians and healthcare staff on respiratory care practices.
• Set up, operate and manage respiratory equipment (ventilators, NIPPV/CPAP, High Flow).
• Manage patients on invasive ventilation modes (AC, PSV, PC, APRV, Bi-level).

Position Purpose

The Respiratory Therapist shall be responsible for the administration of respiratory care offered by the Respiratory Care Department

What you will do

• Function clinically with a considerable amount of independent judgment regarding the delivery of quality patient care
• Serve as a technical resource person to the physicians and other health care workers, with regard to current practices in respiratory care
• Set up, operate and manage patient care on respiratory related equipment such as mechanical ventilators, NIPPV/CPAP, or High Flow Oxygen devices
• Manage patients on invasive mechanical ventilation modes (AC, PSV, PC, APRV, Bi-level)

Minimum Qualifications

• Graduate of an accredited school of Respiratory Care, minimum of a two-year Associate's Degree
• Current State of CT Respiratory Care Practitioner License
• Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) or Certified (CRT) by the National Board of Respiratory Care (NBRC).
• Thorough knowledge of the procedures and patient care techniques involved in the delivery of respiratory care
