Job summary

Advocate Illinois Masonic Medical Center in Chicago seeks a Respiratory Therapist for a Per Diem (PRN) registry role on the 1st shift (6:30 am–7:00 pm). The position focuses on delivering comprehensive respiratory care using evidence-based practices and ensuring patient safety across care settings.

The role requires a state-registered Respiratory Care Practitioner license, NBRC credentials within 12 months (or CRT as applicable), and an associate degree in respiratory care, with BLS

Qualifications

• Graduate from an accredited respiratory care program with a minimum of an associate degree.
• RCP license required in the state of practice.
• NBRC credential within 12 months OR CRT credential (as applicable).
• BLS for Healthcare Providers certification issued by the AHA.

Responsibilities

• Provide and coordinate comprehensive respiratory care to patients.
• Operate ventilators in critical and non-critical care settings and assist physicians.
• Administer medications and therapies per physician orders or established protocols.
• Educate patients on purpose, technique, self-care, and goals of therapy.
• Maintain and troubleshoot equipment to ensure proper functionality.
• Collaborate with other departments for patient care and education.
• Demonstrate adherence to policies, safety standards, and effective handoffs.
• Teach, precept, and mentor new teammates or students.
