Qualifications

• Graduation from an approved two-year respiratory therapist program.
• Licensed by the District of Columbia Health Regulation.
• Licensed as an RRT (Registered Respiratory Therapist) and NBRC certified.
• Licensed as a CRT or RRT (to become registered within a year).
• BLS Basic Life Support for Health Care Professionals required.
• ACLS and PALS within six months of hire. Excellent critical thinking, communication, and problem-solving skills.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced environment.
• Strong organizational and attention to detail.

Responsibilities

• Fulfills the needs of the patients, families and community by performing a variety of routine and intensive therapy, diagnostic procedures and patient assessments in accordance with licensure, certification, training, and regulatory requirements.
• Maintains and stocks respiratory equipment. Ensures ventilator and life support equipment are operable.
• Effective communication skills, both verbal and written.
