Job summary

The George W. Washington University Hospital, part of Universal Health Services, is recruiting for a Respiratory Therapist to support patient care in the DC region. The role involves routine and intensive therapy, diagnostic procedures, and assessments in line with licensure and regulatory requirements.

Secure DC licensure and RRT/NBRC certification; BLS and ACLS/PALS within six months of hire. Strong critical thinking, communication, and teamwork are essential in a fast-paced environment.

Qualifications

• Graduation from an approved two-year respiratory therapist program.
• Licensed by the District of Columbia Health Regulation.
• Licensed as an RRT Registered Respiratory Therapist and certified by NBRC.
• Licensed as a CRT Certified Respiratory Therapist or RRT (to become registered within a year)
• BLS Basic Life Support for Health Care Professionals required
• ACLS and PALS within six months of hire
• Excellent critical thinking, communication, and problem-solving skills.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced and high-pressure environment.
• Strong organizational and attention to detail.

Responsibilities

• Fulfills the needs of the patients, families and community by performing a variety of routine and intensive therapy, diagnostic procedures and patient assessments in accordance with his/her licensure, certification, training, and regulatory requirements.
• Maintains and stocks respiratory equipment. Ensures ventilator and life support equipment are operable.
• Effective communication skills, both verbal and written
