Job summary

Canton Potsdam Hospital in Potsdam, NY seeks a Respiratory Therapist to join the Respiratory Therapy Department. The position covers 12-hour shifts (7a-7p) with every-other-weekend rotations, supporting critical patient care and adherence to department protocols.

Responsibilities include collaborating with the Respiratory Director on strategic and operational goals, ensuring quality indicators are met, and maintaining compliance with safety and professional standards.

Qualifications

• Graduate of AMA approved two year Respiratory school or equivalent.
• Current NYS Respiratory Therapist or Certified Respiratory Technician license from NYS Department of Education.
• Registered with the National Board for Respiratory Care or equivalent.
• Current AHA BLS certification at hire.
• ACLS, PALS and NRP must be obtained within 3 months of hire.

Responsibilities

• Strategic planning with Respiratory Director to align goals and measures.
• Monitor operational goals, communicate results and identify improvements.
• Identify quality indicators and implement continuous quality improvement processes.
• Support cost control, waste reduction, and IT system usage including Meditech, Excel, Word.
• Provide superior patient, physician and coworker service and support.

Education

Graduate of AMA approved two year Respiratory school or equivalent

NYS Respiratory Therapist or Certified Respiratory Technician license

Registered with NBRC or equivalent

AHA BLS certification at hire

AHA ACLS, PALS and NRP within 3 months of hire
