Qualifications

• Graduate of AMA approved two-year Respiratory school.
• Current NYS Respiratory Therapist license or Certified Respiratory Technician license.
• Current AHA BLS certification at hire; ACLS, PALS and NRP must be obtained within 6 months of hire (NBRC certification may be required).

Responsibilities

• Review patient data and respiratory orders for assigned patients.
• Evaluate data such as blood gases, hemodynamics, ECG, and radiology reports.
• Advise providers on respiratory care procedures and techniques.
• Prepare and check respiratory care equipment for proper function and cleanliness.
• Administer prescribed therapies including airway care, oxygen, aerosol therapy, and ventilator management.
• Monitor and document clinical parameters and adjust treatments as needed.
• Provide patient education on therapies performed and updates to care plans.
• Collaborate with health care team to implement the plan of care and accept physician orders.
