Qualifications

• Required Associate’s Degree Resp Care
• Required High School Diploma/GED
• Required Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) - NBRC
• Required Basic Life Support Program (BLS) - AHA
• Required Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) - AHA
• Required Respiratory Care Practitioner (RCP) license

Responsibilities

• Emergency Response: Attends code blue and rapid response activation to assist with airway management.
• Patient Assessment: Performs thorough assessments and elicits sleep problem history to aid diagnosis and treatment.
• Ventilation: Sets up and operates ventilators (invasive/non-invasive) and delivers HFJV/HFOV as needed.
• Oxygenation: Delivers supplemental oxygen therapy with appropriate device selection.
• Inhaled Medications: Administers inhaled meds (SABA, LABA, LAMA, ICS, antibiotics).
• Lung Expansion & Airway Clearance: Performs incentive spirometry, PEP, and Flutter therapies.
• Patient Education: Educates patients and caregivers on conditions and disease management.
• Special Procedures: Conducts EKGs, ABG, PFTs; assists during deliveries when needed.
• Machine Maintenance: Maintains and cleans Respiratory Therapy equipment.
• Treatment Plans: Evaluates response to therapy and adjusts plans accordingly.
