Job summary

The Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) at Methodist Southlake Medical Center provides a range of therapeutic and diagnostic services, including ABG, PFTs and ventilator support for adults and neonates. Qualifications

• Graduate of an accredited Respiratory Care Program.
• Current Basic Life Support certification required.
• Current Advanced Cardio Life Support certification required.
• NRP, Pediatric Advanced Life Support — must obtain within 1 year of hire.
• Licensed by the Texas Medical Board as a Respiratory Care Practitioner.
• Registered by the National Board for Respiratory Care.
• At least 6 months respiratory care experience.

Responsibilities

• Performs respiratory therapeutics including oxygen administration, weaning, aerosol and humidity therapy, IPPB, inhalation therapy, airway maintenance and chest physiotherapy.
• Performs and reports cardiopulmonary diagnostic procedures: ABG, pulse oximetry, PFT, ECG.
• Prepares treatment evaluation via bedside assessment, interview and chart review.
• Uses critical thinking for appropriate actions.
• Interprets CXR, ABG and PFT data when reviewing patient information.
• Assembles and troubleshoots equipment: ventilators, airways, analyzers, delivery devices and gas analyzers.
• Participates in infection control, safety and quality assurance activities.
• Performs cleaning and maintenance of cardiopulmonary equipment and work areas.
• Utilizes patient scripting to improve satisfaction and outcomes.
