Job summary

FMOL Health in Baton Rouge is seeking a Registered Respiratory Therapist to participate in diagnosis, treatment, and management of patients with pulmonary disorders. The RRT will initiate and manage Life Support Systems under physician direction, performing tasks within license and department guidelines.

You will collaborate with physicians and nursing staff to ensure high-quality respiratory care, including bronchodilator therapy, ventilation support, and arterial sampling as needed.

Qualifications

• Associate's degree or equivalent (10 Years experience as licensed therapist substituted for associate's degree)
• Pass both portions of NBRC Advanced Practitioner (Registry) Exam
• Current Louisiana State License or permit issued by LSBME and BLS certification ACLS within 1 year of hire

Responsibilities

• Adheres to department policies, safety and infection control standards.
• Records pertinent patient care data accurately.
• Consults with physicians on respiratory care procedures and initiates bronchodilator therapy.
• Monitors oxygen equipment and respiratory care devices for proper operation.
• Prepares and monitors ventilator systems and assists in CPR and ventilation.
• Administers respiratory therapy procedures and assesses effectiveness.
• Interacts professionally with peers and nursing/medical staff to optimize patient outcomes.
• Maintains arterial line procedures competency and educates staff.
• Keeps BLS, ACLS and PALS current and participates in professional development.
• Performs other duties as assigned.
