Job summary

Geisinger in Scranton is seeking a Respiratory Therapist to assess patient needs, plan and implement treatment modalities, and collaborate with the patient care team.

The role requires performing and documenting assessments, managing ventilators, providing patient and family education, and adhering to safety standards. Hours are 7am–7:30pm, every other weekend and holiday; ACLS, BLS, NRP and PALS certifications are provided and required.

Qualifications

• Assesses patient respiratory care needs based on data and plans required therapies.
• Communicates with the patient care team to coordinate treatment.

Responsibilities

• Consistently performs and documents thorough patient assessments.
• Establishes appropriate care plans.
• Communicates with other members of the patient care team.
• Correctly performs and documents routine therapeutic modalities including aerosolized medications and oxygen therapy; assists with care and maintenance of artificial airways.
• Initiates and manages mechanical ventilators according to protocol.
• Provides patient and family education on disease management.
• Assists in intra-hospital transport of ventilated patients.
• Adheres to safety standards and regulatory requirements.
• Supports age-specific care and documentation requirements.
