Job summary

Children’s Colorado is seeking a Respiratory Therapist Assistant to support Acute Care, Emergency and Critical Care areas under the supervision of a Respiratory Therapist. The role involves equipment setup, basic maintenance, and patient education across ambulatory and inpatient settings.

The position offers a flexible schedule and is located within a Children’s Hospital Colorado department. Applicants should be enrolled in an accredited Respiratory Therapy program with Basic Life Support

Qualifications

• High School diploma or GED required.
• Must be enrolled in accredited Respiratory Therapy program.
• Basic Life Support certification required.

Responsibilities

• Performs pre-use testing, setup, disassembly, cleaning and basic maintenance for respiratory care equipment under RT supervision.
• Conducts simple spirometry and respiratory education in ambulatory settings under RT supervision.
• In inpatient settings, assists with airway clearance, home O2 setup, transports, prone positioning, tracheostomy care, suctioning under RT supervision.
• Follows procedures to minimize risk, supports teamwork and system effectiveness.
• May participate in departmental committees or projects as assigned.

Job description

The Respiratory Therapist Assistant (RTA) serves as a resource to all Acute Care, Emergency and Critical Care areas under the supervision of a Respiratory Therapist (RT). Performs a variety of basic respiratory therapy procedures and assists with equipment setup and maintenance in support of patient needs for respiratory therapy.

Shift: Flex, multiple available

Duties & Responsibilities

• Performs pre-use testing, set up, disassembly, cleaning, reprocessing and basic maintenance for various respiratory care equipment and oxygen delivery devices under the supervision of an RT.
• In an Ambulatory setting, performs simple spirometry and respiratory education/care coordination under the supervision of an RT.
• In the Inpatient setting, may perform basic respiratory care under the supervision of an RT, including but not limited to: airway clearance techniques, home O2 set-up, assisting with transports, assisting with prone positioning, HAPI prevention activities, tracheostomy care, assisting with retaping of ETT and suctioning.
• Follows departmental or organizational practices and procedures that minimize risk of harm to patients, foster communication, support effective teamwork and ensure system effectiveness.
• May participate in departmental committees and/or projects as assigned.

Salary Information

Pay is dependent on applicant's relevant experience.

Hourly Rate of Pay: $22.70
