Inova Fairfax Hospital in Falls Church, VA is seeking a dedicated Respiratory Therapist for Pulmonary Rehab and Diagnostics on a PRN basis. The role includes administering diagnostic tests, creating exercise plans, and delivering patient education to support recovery and wellness.

The ideal candidate is a graduate of a CoARC-accredited program, holds CRT, BLS from AHA, and a Virginia RT license, and is prepared to collaborate with the healthcare team to ensure safe, effective care and rapid

Responsibilities

• Administers or supports pulmonary diagnostic testing for patients based on ATS standards.
• Develops exercise prescription and risk factor modification per ACCVPR/ACSM/ATS/ACC/NASM guidelines.
• Develops Individual Treatment Plans through assessment to include exercise and strength training and patient education.
• Provides multimodal patient education based on individual treatment plan.
• Demonstrates proper instruction and technique for safe exercise and strength training.

Job Responsibilities

• Administers or supports pulmonary diagnostic testing for patients based on ATS standards
• Develops exercise prescription and risk factor modification by incorporating comorbidity and musculoskeletal disorders, per established program (ACCVPR, ACSM, ATS, ACC, NASM) standards and guidelines, as evidenced by random chart review.
• Develops Individual Treatment Plans through physical assessment and testing to include exercise and strength training programs, patient education and behavioral health support specific to each patient to achieve optimal outcomes for each patient.
• Provide multimodal patient education for patients based on individual treatment plan
• Demonstrates proper instruction and technique for performing appropriate exercise and strength training as needed to ensure patient safety and adherence to exercise prescription, as evidenced by direct observation.
• Immediately reports significant changes in patient clinical status to appropriate members of healthcare team and assists with emergency care according to department policy, as evidenced by direct observation.
• Supports process for delivery of care from direct patient and family communication, technology, and other healthcare team member collaboration.
• Supports additional projects and duties as assigned.

Additional Requirements

• Graduate of an accredited CoArc (The Commission on Accreditation for Respiratory Care) respiratory program.
