Job summary

Winona Health is seeking a Respiratory Therapist to deliver comprehensive respiratory therapy across inpatient, outpatient, and long-term care settings. You will follow care plans and physician orders to provide essential respiratory support.

The role requires ventilator management, blood gas interpretation, and DBS in addition to ECGs, PFT testing, and patient education. A collaborative team player with commitment to quality care is preferred.

Qualifications

  • Requires a Bachelor's or Associate Degree through an accredited school of respiratory care.
  • Requires NBRC certification and Minnesota State registration.
  • Must obtain BLS, NRP, ACLS, and PALS within first year on the job.
  • Competent in a wide range of respiratory therapy treatments and monitoring.

Responsibilities

  • Operate and maintain respiratory care equipment, including ventilators.
  • Interpret blood gases and adjust therapy accordingly.
  • Perform tracheostomy care and ECGs.
  • Conduct pulmonary function testing and EEG testing.
  • Educate patients and families on respiratory care and medications.
  • Support continuous improvement initiatives.

Days/Nights, Hours between 6 am - 6 pm, 7:30 am - 7:30 pm, or 7 pm - 7 am
Weekends: Possible
Holidays: Possible
*Starting Pay Between $30.36 - $37.95 Based on Experience

Position Overview

The Respiratory Therapist is responsible for the performance of respiratory therapy and associated diagnostics to patients and residents in the inpatient, outpatient, and long-term care settings. Carries out the responsibilities and duties of a Respiratory Therapist and performs all modalities of respiratory therapy care common to the field, according to established plans of care and at the direction of the treating provider.

  • Duties include maintaining knowledge in all equipment pertaining to respiratory care and the ability to operate them efficiently, ventilators included.
  • Must be able to interpret blood gases and adjust therapy accordingly.
  • Must be able to perform tracheostomy tube changes, and conduct electrocardiograms.
  • Must be able to operate other clinical equipment in the care of patients. Care/equipment may include, but is not limited to: suction and pulmonary function testing.
  • Maintains, cleans, calibrates, and assesses the proper function of all equipment in the department.
  • Effectively educates and communicates with patients and their family members, concerns regarding their respiratory-related disease process, and the proper use of related equipment/medication.
  • Participates in and supports continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Other job duties as assigned.
Skills and Experience

Required:

  • Requires a Bachelor's or Associate Degree through an accredited school of respiratory care
  • Requires Registry by National Board of Respiratory Care (NBRC) and Minnesota State Registration
  • Must obtain BLS, NRP, ACLS, and PALS certificate within first year in the position
  • Must be competent in all respiratory therapy treatments including, but not limited to: nebulizer, ventilator use and maintenance, Acapella, ECG completion, pulmonary function testing, EEG testing, tracheotomy care, MDI use and instruction, spirometry, oxygen administration, and assessments
Preferred
  • Previous respiratory care experience is preferred, but not required
